We grow the grapes that Virginia does best. Our winemaker friends grow the rest.

Virginia's climate is built for Cabernet Franc and Viognier. We grow both on the Dover Hall estate.

We can't grow Cabernet Sauvignon at our standard in Virginia. So we go to the masters. Napa for Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Willamette for Pinot Noir. Mendoza for Malbec. Spain for Rioja.

The vision behind 7 Lady Vineyards

7LV owners, Chad Hornik and Jeff Ottaviano

Chad Hornik, a certified winemaker and sommelier, and Jeff Ottaviano, co-founder and viticulturist, first connected as business partners in 2008. In 2017, they created Dover Hall Experiences, the award-winning hospitality company behind Dover Hall, Bartizan, and 7 Lady Vineyards.

In 2018, they planted 4,000 Cab Franc and Viognier vines at the Dover Hall estate, while simultaneously cultivating deep personal relationships with premier winemakers from Napa and Willamette to Mendoza and Rioja.

In 2026, their 2023 Meritage placed in the Virginia Governor's Cup Case. Top 12 in the state. Blind-tasted from 677 wines.
