The Conversation brings Virginia wines and our global collection to the same table. Our award-winning team will guide the tasting and share the places and people behind each wine.

Once we open, you can also order food, take bottles home and join the wine club.

The quietest room at 7 Lady Vineyards has no walls.

Our walking trail runs six waypoints, from the woods to the Viognier vines. Just a stroll through the woods and that has made all the difference. No phone, no pace, no reason to hurry.

  1. The path winding between the trees over fallen leaves.

    Waypoint 1 of 6The Path

7 Lady Vineyards has an interpretive nature trail tucked into its woods, and it asks you to slow down.

We built it to disturb as little as possible. The path follows the ground as we found it.

Its borders are deadfall and blowdown, the limbs and trunks that storms and age brought down. Nothing was hauled in. Nothing was paved.

  2. The trail climbing the knoll, bordered by fallen branches.

    Waypoint 2 of 6The Knoll

The idea comes from Japan. In 1982, Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries introduced shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing. It means taking in the forest through your senses.

Listen for birds. Run a hand over moss or bark. Breathe in damp earth and pine.

  3. The Rest: a path through the woods between borders of fallen trunks.

    Waypoint 3 of 6The Rest

A storm brought this tree down. We cut just enough to let you through. Count the rings as you pass. They hold more years than any bottle in the cellar.

  4. A green clearing in the woods, with a fallen trunk beside the path.

    Waypoint 4 of 6Peaceful Meadow

This isn’t a hike, and there’s no pace to keep. Stroll, stop, or sit a while. We ask that you leave your phone in your pocket, or better yet, in the car.

Studies link time among trees to lower blood pressure, lower stress hormones and better sleep. Researchers point to phytoncides, natural compounds that plants release, which raise the activity of the body’s natural killer cells.

  5. The trail between tall trees, its edge marked by a fallen limb.

    Waypoint 5 of 6Berm View

Signs along the way name the trees beside you and the soil under your feet, so you learn the forest as you walk it.

  6. The trail coming out of the woods beside the vineyard rows.

    Waypoint 6 of 6Viognier Stretch

Come for a glass of wine. Stay for the walk.
